We are extremely excited to introduce you to our new Managing Director, Jeffrey Phillips – who will be supporting business development activities in both Vancouver, B.C and Ottawa, ON. Jeff has a strong background in public policy and brings with him an extensive network of contacts spanning the public, private, and non-profit sectors, as well as academia. Jeff’s background in policy, regulatory, and market access issues will also strengthen the risk management services offered by OTUS Group.
It is an exciting time here at OTUS Group, the launch of a new eBook, adding Jeff to the team, and having feet on the ground in Vancouver have us looking forward to so many future possibilities. We want everyone to get to know Jeff and see all of the incredible experience and passion he is bringing to the OTUS Group family. Here is a quick Q&A we did with Jeff:
Can you tell us a little about your professional background?
I studied public policy and was always interested in a wide range of issues, from international trade and energy policy, to climate change and sustainability. I had an amazing experience working for the federal government for a number of years before deciding to join the team at Dawson Strategic. I have spent the past four years building the company and helping to deliver new and innovative research products.
What made you want to join OTUS Group?
I was instantly drawn to the dynamic team at OTUS Group. Everyone is highly capable in their fields, dedicated, and people-oriented, which I love. Once I gained a better understanding of the company, I realized there was a natural fit between the management consulting services offered by OTUS Group and my policy background.
What are you looking forward to most about working with OTUS Group?
I am most excited to build solid relationships with a new network of clients and colleagues. Opportunity is always tied to people and the most important resource any company has are its people.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
Simply put, I spend it outside! I love the outdoors and have a long-list of passions, from skiing to mountain biking to sailing. Travel with some aspect of adventure is high on the list as well as it is the best way to expose yourself to new ideas and cultures.
What advice do you have for new employees or those new to the job market?
Be curious and never stop exploring. It is easy to get comfortable in our positions after a few years, but personal growth and learning should never stop in any position. Ask yourself: do I have ten years’ experience, or one year of experience 10 times over? Beyond that, be bold and be true to what you want to do in life…otherwise its just too difficult.
Please join us in welcoming Jeff to or team.
