2017 had many bright spots, and a few of them stand out. In May I had the pleasure to meet with senior executive members of the Government of Nunavut (GN) to provide them with a briefing on a large project that will help the GN to set a direction to improve its financial management. The new premier of Nunavut, Paul Quassa was quoted when elected premier in late November as saying “We want to make Nunavut shine”. We hope our work will be helpful in that regard.
Again in 2017, with a community of leaders, we had the pleasure of once again hosting Leadercast Ottawa and providing the net proceeds to support the good work of the Ottawa Mission. Along with the OTUS team, I served dinner at the Mission a couple of times this year and it is so special to experience the appreciation from those I had the privilege to serve.
Why are these activities important? Because each of them give back to community in one way or another, and that is something we are very happy to do at OTUS Group. This wouldn’t happen without our dedicated team whose efforts I greatly appreciate.
We look forward to 2018 with significant optimism. As I write this note, my Maple Leafs are solid in second in the Atlantic Division, which is just one reason to be optimistic. And in case you might be wondering, yes I will be having a Blue (and White) Christmas …
Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for a Safe and Happy Holiday Season!
2017 has been an amazing year for OTUS Group, as we expanded both in numbers and geography.
You may have noticed that we are much more active on social media, largely due to Zoe deBest joining the team early in the year as our full-time Marketing & Communications Specialist.
In May we hosted our fifth annual Leadercast Ottawa event, in our continuing effort to build Ottawa’s leadership capacity while raising funds for The Ottawa Mission. We are already planning Leadercast Ottawa 2018, and think the theme of "Lead Yourself" is perfect, we hope to see you there.
Another big milestone for us, was launching our Vancouver office under the capable direction of our Managing Director Jeff Phillips. Our presence in Vancouver is particularly exciting for me as it means more frequent trips back to my home town visiting family and friends.
This year our company adopted a Great Horned Owl that is being rehabilitated (the owl is OTUS Group’s namesake) as part of a sponsorship program run by the Ottawa Valley Wild Bird Care Center.
Most recently we have renovated our Ottawa office and are thrilled with the results, we can't get enough of our bright orange wall and the our new OTUS signage.
2017 was a year to remember - and we are looking forward to what 2018 will bring.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
