In these particularly difficult financial times, it's vital that every organization ensure its robustness and sustainability, and the OTUS Group enables that goal.
Initially, OTUS was contracted to assess the financial management process and structure of the organization, provide recommendations, and then implement the plan.
The OTUS Group not only undertook the task of re-engineering the chart of accounts and financial accounting system as a most basic requirement, but they took the time to gain full knowledge of the inner workings of the organization so they would understand the type of custom reporting most valuable to management. When the time came for EFry to undertake the transition to their own contract bookkeeper, OTUS also assisted with the recruitment and training of an excellent candidate.
As a small not-for-profit still bound by ever-changing financial regulations, EFry has benefited from the "virtual-CFO" service model that the OTUS Group also provides. This has allowed the organization to have access to exceptional and current financial expertise at a fraction of the cost a full-time position would warrant. This has allowed EFry to continue to grow with the confidence that risks have been mitigated, and both governance and management have access to ongoing strategic financial expertise. This model has also allowed the Board of Directors to move into a more strategic role and focus their energies on activties at this level.
On a more personal note, I have had the opportunity to work with the OTUS members, in particular Richard MacNeill and Bill Kuurstra over more than two years, and in several capacities. Not only are they solid professionals with incredible expertise and experience, but they are a pleasure to work with, and grace the office with their positive outlook, good humour and warmth.
